Youth Ministry

Hey Church Folks,

How many of us like to be connected? We all enjoy having conversation and being in relationship. There are many ways that this can be done; snail mail, e-mail, texting, face book, twitter, skype, or making a telephone call. All of these are ways to communicate effectively but ultimately it is only communicating.

Before Elise and I were engaged or "dating" she would send me face book messages or emails. These emails would share tidbits of information about her day and who she was. It was exciting for a while to open up those messages and see what they had to say, but it only lasted for a short time. I was itching to get to know her better. One evening I built up the gumption to ask her, in person, to go on a walk. Needless to say, "the rest is history".

We are in constant communication with people all around us. May we take the time to truly get to know who someone is. If I would of never took the time to take a walk with Elise, our relationship would of fizzled or just stayed as friends. Christ tells us, in Matthew 22, what the two greatest commandments are; Love God and Love others. This week take the time and show people Christ by simply not communicating but loving them.
